Morning Coffee
Little things done with love, over time, produce large dividends
AFTER FORTY-FIVE YEARS of marriage, I am grateful that every morning begins in the same simple way.
Nancy and I finish our morning prayers, sit with a cup of coffee, and watch the sun come up. We talk about this and that, the things that matter, our plans for the day, and whatever is on our hearts.
I have learned over the years that peace and happiness in marriage rarely come from dramatic events. They grow from steady, intentional habits. Small acts of togetherness, repeated over years, become a rich investment in one another. Like interest quietly building, the little things done with love, over time, produce large dividends.
Our quiet time together is not something that happens before the day begins. It is how the day begins.
