Patrick that's a great point you make about evangelization not having to be bold confrontations or scripted techniques. The problem i have is specifically confrontations and being intimidated by people's aggressive behavior and they get right in ur face.
well done, Patrick. A whole new level of Socratic dialogue. Let the Cellulose Catechism get things started. Although Mr LaMorte below need not call his friend a fiend for being a BBChristian. Keep them coming, your substack is excellent Len Beckman
I had a, well, let’s call it a “reverse experience.” As a lukewarm and poorly-catechized Catholic (I repeat myself, I know) a “Bible believing Christian” fiend of mine, sensing the opportunity to convert me, kept hounding me to come to his interdenominational Bible study. To get him off my back, I went.
Thanks for sharing Patrick! I just got done reading this book of yours! The great thing about being Catholic is when we are “defending” our faith it’s as easy as simply present the facts
Being one who suffers from cancer, among other diseases, I'm in and out of hospitals. Each time I'm examined, my Brown Scapular comes to the attention of the nurse or doctor. It's either, "what's that?" or "you have to remove that for this test." I usually try to explain what the Brown Scapular means to me and why I've worn one for. over 50 years and have never taken it off. One nurse was so interested that she gave me a green Scapular that someone gave her. She was not a Catholic but liked to pray the Rosary. One doctor sat by me for quite a while, asking me about the diaconate cause he and his wife have been discussing whether he should apply for the deacon formation class. Just wearing the Brown Scapular attracts many people to it, and they all have questions which I love to answer. I can't go to a foreign land to preach the Gospel, I do it from my hospital bed!
So far, no confrontations. Some inquiries, but, I guess, "I" am not sufficiently informative, or something. No book; instead, the 'Catechetical' image known as "Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe". worn on shirts, and other clothes. This garment, and this image, prove the Truth of the Catholic proposal. Sometimes, I wear the Miraculous Medal image, on a shirt. Or Our Mother of Perpetual Help. Or the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Plus, I have a tattoo. The 'traggetto', drawn on a blackboard, long ago. by Luigi Giussani. It is series of arrows, topped with an X. The X is the Holy Trinity, manifested, in history, in the flesh, by Jesus Christ, the Catholic Sacraments, Structure, and People. Any time I am asked about this tattoo, and have the time, I must proclaim- He is alive, present, and is speaking to you, now, through me. Humbling beyond words. That He sends me. Ow! and Wow! Greatest joy of all.
Than you for sharing this story, I believe actions often speak louder than words...

It backfired on him.
I became more Catholic.
I talk about it here: https://catholictreehouse.substack.com/p/saint-in-progress-episode-24-the
The Catechism and a maple bar is more than plenty to chew on.
I am always amazed at your patience and listen regularly to your show even though I am one of those "fundamentalists" you mentioned.

In addition to being informed, it also helps to be patient. Sometimes I am (that's the Holy Spirit), and sometimes I'm not.
